The core of Oklahoma City underwent major renovations in the early 1990s, transforming into an elegantly modern downtown space with several new attractions. The former industrial area Bricktown has matured into the city's entertainment district, with a popular minor league ballpark and an array of nightclubs, restaurants and shops lying along its scenic canal. The city has one of the largest Native American populations in the country, whose culture manifests in museums, various memorials and public art works displayed throughout town. Oklahoma City is also very much defined by its history as a settlers' town, a quality reflected in such popular destinations as the Old West-themed amusement park, Frontier City.
